Broken; parts to fix it are not available
The verdict is that the unit needs a new control board. Problem is, none are available at all, as they are back-ordered from the factory, and there is no idea if or when one will be available. My unit sits broken, not even a year old, and Frigidaire cannot fix it. This is an epic fail, in my opinion. I will never buy another Frigidaire product. (I have a range and refrigerator too!)
Have had this less than a year. It does clean well. However, after only 7 washes it had little dots of rust on the inside door and base of the unit inside. A more serious problem is that a few months ago it stopped completely draining after wash cycles, leaving a pool of water in the base of the dishwasher. It does suck the remaining water out at the beginning of a new cycle, but clearly it's not supposed to leave a lake of standing water after a cycle. A technician is scheduled to come out next week for a warranty repair, so hopefully the problem can be resolved.Stevendom
greatly improved over older model
Love it! i like that it's more energy efficient than my old one (Frigidaire also, lasting 18 years) i mainly run it on the 'energy saver' cycle and 'air dry'. uses only 2.7 gal of water and takes about an hour for the entire cycle. dishes are clean, even pots and pans and streak free (i use white vinegar in the rinse container). i think the upper water arm/sprayer makes a huge difference getting the items in the upper rack cleaner. and, the decreased water pressure results in the lighter items (such as plastic containers) not being tipped over leaving them full of dirty water. i didn't think i'd like the smaller size silverware container, but i do. i did take the removable upper stabilizers off as many others did. it's quiet. dishes come out clean and dry.
overall, i consider it greatly improved over the older models. love the stainless steel, if it lasts another 18 years!!!!!!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]paw44
excellent value
I bought this last month and have been very happy w/it.
One problem is that it does not dry the dishes, so I have to air dry them. But it cleans very well, has good size, is quiet, and the price was good. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]Patches10
Great Bang for the Buck
Replaced older 18" dishwasher in our game/media room area due to a leaking gasket. It was noisy and did a very poor job cleaning. Had the new Frigidaire installed (replaced old black unit with the nice Frigidaire stainless unit). Bottom rack has great flexibility. Controls are very straightforward and more options than most in this price point. If you're in the market to replace a semi-rare 18" model, I recommend this unit. Cheaply made, Leaked before I turned it on
I bought this 3 weeks ago from a major appliance retailer as a replacement. I installed it myself as I have skills. I was disappointed that the appliance was very light, and front heavy. The adjustable legs were very wobbly. The instructions said to refrain from leaning on the front door because damage could occur. If you have ever bumped an appliance by mopping the floor or have children, this is not the appliance for you. The door does not have a latch; it closes with a pressure catch that is difficult to pull open if it closes on your finger (it happened to me). The product doesn't seem to have been tested at the factory prior to shipping. According to the instructions I poured 2 quarts of water into the bottom of the dishwasher prior to turning it on. All the water proceeded to run out of the bottom in parts that were factory assembled. I am very disappointed and will not purchase a Frigidaire dishwasher again. The complete model number was FFBD1821MW0A.buyerbeware
